A full building permit has been issued for 1000M, a 74-story luxury apartment tower at 1000 S. Michigan Ave in the South Loop. Ready to go vertical, McHugh Concrete, the concrete subcontractor for McHugh Construction, recently completed a nine-hour continuous concrete pour for the structure’s mat slab foundation.
Co-developed by Time Equities, JK Equities, and Oak Capitals, 1000M was designed by the late Helmut Jahn. Rising 805 feet, the tower features a highly sculpted form with an angled cantilevered base topped by glass-clad residential floors that widen as the building rises. JAHN continues to serve as the architecture firm behind the project as construction has recommenced.
With 738 apartment units, residences will range from studios to three-bedroom penthouse units. Tenants will have access to luxury amenity spaces including a golf simulator room, an outdoor swimming pool with cabana, a cookout area, and a full-service 73rd floor bar and lounge with views of the surrounding city.
Located behind the main tower, a parking garage will rise to supply 325 car parking spaces for residents. 356 bike parking spaces will also be available to tenants.
With construction back in full swing, the mat slab foundation milestone completes the foundations under the main tower of 1000M. Work is expected to go vertical now and construction is expected to wrap up in 2025.
