The Chicago Plan Commission has approved a Lakefront Protection Ordinance application for a residential development at 1534 E. 66th. Currently a vacant lot, the project site is situated near Jackson Park and sits on an entire block of empty lots between S. Blackstone Ave and S. Stony Island Ave.
Planned by Renaissance Properties-IL LLC, the project would build a four-story residential building on the property with eight residential units. With two units per floor, every apartment would have three bedrooms and a south-facing balcony. Seven car parking spaces and eight bike parking spaces will be accessible from the alley.
Designed by PMPC Architects, the building would reach 45 feet in height and be clad in a combination of white and gray fiber cement siding.
With the Lakefront Protection Ordinance application approved, the $1.2 million development can move forward with permitting and construction. A timeline for the project is currently unknown.
