A redesign has been revealed for the approved hotel development in the works at 3257 N. Halsted. Dubbed Backbeat Hotel, the project is being led by Infocus Builders Inc. The project is located at the southeast corner of the intersection of N. Halsted St and W. Aldine Ave and the existing two-story and one-story buildings on the site will be demolished.

Designed by Jonathan Splitt Architects in collaboration with Studio Rodrigo Buelvas, new renderings show that the hotel development has undergone a redesign as the project moves forward. The hotel has taken on a new exterior color scheme and features rounded corners, protruding window frames, and the rainbow vertical stripes on the north facade have been replaced by glass columns that can be backlit in a variety of colors.

Per the hotel’s new website, the project will honor Boystown’s legacy while redefining its next chapter, going beyond the traditional hotel experience as it's built for movement, music, and connection. The six-story building will have 51 hotel rooms, a full-service restaurant, a basement speakeasy and lounge, and a rooftop pool deck.

With all of its city approvals already secured from the City Council and Zoning Board of Appeals, the refreshed hotel development is ready to move forward. According to the hotel’s website, it plans to open in 2028. Permits have been filed for the new construction and are undergoing the review process.
