A demolition permit has been issued for the existing one-story building at 1642 W. North to make way for a new mixed-use development. Planned by 1642 W North Ave LLC, the property is located midblock between N. Marshfield Ave and N. Paulina St in Wicker Park.

Designed by Michael S. Cox, the new development will stand four stories tall. The ground floor will have a professional office space and the upper three floors will be home to three residential units accessed via an elevator for the dwellings. Two parking spaces will be located at the back of the property.

With the demolition permit issued, general contractor Carlos Group Inc can clear the site to make way for the new development. The new construction permit has been filed and is awaiting issuance.
