A full building permit has been issued for a residential development at 3600 N. Southport. Planned by Derrig Management, the project site is located at the northwest corner of W. Addison St and N. Southport Ave. The site was previously home to a Fifth Third Bank branch with surface parking.
Designed by Jonathan Splitt Architects, permit filings show that the project will be a four-story building. While no drawings or renderings have been shared publicly, the permit filing shows that the building will have 10 dwelling units with five parking spaces. Four of the parking spaces will be inside a garage with the fifth spot located outdoors. No retail space has been identified in the permit for the high visibility corner site.
With the full building permit issued, Derrig Builders Inc has the permit in hand to begin new construction. Before work on the new development can begin, the team has to secure a demolition permit for the former bank building to clear the site ahead of the new construction. A timeline for the project has not been announced.
