A four-story mixed-use development slated for 2317 N. Clark Street in Lincoln Park is ready to begin construction after scoring permits from the city of Chicago.
The project replaces a vacant lot that was previously home to a single-story Walgreens, just south of the landmarked Egyptian Revival-style Reebie Storage and Moving Company. The upcoming building includes 2,350 square feet of retail space fronting Clark, 45 rental apartments, and a rooftop deck for residents.
The contemporary-looking building comes from Chicago-based 2R/Z Architecture and includes a garage with 35 parking spaces accessed via a private alleyway on the property's northern edge. The permit lists "2300 Clark Development LLC" as the developer and estimates the scope of the work at $4.5 million.
The project at 2317 N. Clark was approved by the Chicago Plan Commission in September as required under the city's Lakefront Protection Ordinance, which provides officials extra oversight of projects located within close proximity to the Lake Michigan shoreline.
