A mixed-use development is being proposed at 4920 W. Irving Park. Located at the corner of W. Irving Park Rd and N. Laporte Ave, the owner of the existing Las Tablas Colombian Steakhouse, Soraya Campos, is planning the redevelopment of the restaurant site and the two lots next door.

With Aria Group Architects behind the design, the new four-story building will have a new space for the restaurant in addition to a cultural center. The upper floors will have 18 apartments, with a unit mix of one-beds and two-beds ranging from 900 to 1,100 square feet. Topping out at approximately 60 feet tall, the building’s design shows a brick and masonry design with balconies for every unit.

The project will cost approximately $9.5 million and needs approval from the Committee on Zoning and City Council for a zoning change. According to reports from Block Club Chicago, construction could begin this spring and the restaurant would open by next winter and the rest of the project would be done by 2026.
