The Chicago City Council has approved the sunset of the Planned Development at 750 W. North. Originally approved back in the summer of 2018, the proposal came from SB/CA 750 North LLC led by developer David Trandel. With Yondorf Hall at the corner of W. North Ave and N. Halsted St, the proposal would have replaced the surface parking lot between the building and the CTA L tracks.

Designed by Antunovich Associates, the mixed-use development would have stood eight stories tall, reaching a height of 105 feet tall. The project’s design would have clad the building with brick, metal spandrel panels, cast stone accent bands, and a glass and metal window wall system. Inside, the building would have had ground floor retail space, 92 residential units, and 10 parking spaces.

Almost six years after the development was originally approved, this move from the City Council nullifies the development’s approval. If the developer would seek to move forward with the project, a new approval process would be required. In the meantime, this proposal is officially scrapped.
