A zoning application has been filed for a proposed residential development at 2424 S. California. Planned by Brinshore Development, the project site is located at the southwest corner of the intersection of W. 24th Blvd and S. California Ave. The project includes the existing Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary church and school building which are located on the property.

Designed by Canopy Architecture + Design, the mixed-use development will deliver 60 residential units and 29 surface parking spaces on the site. The building will feature 5,200 square feet of office/commercial space inside the ground floor of the church as well as 2,600 square feet of retail space and three apartments on the ground floor of the addition.

Set to rise 78 feet tall, the development will consist of a seven-story addition along the back side of the lot stretching from the church over to S. California Ave.

To allow for the scope of the development, the site will need to be rezoned from RT-4 to B2-3. Approvals will be needed from the Committee on Zoning and City Council.
