Cadillac dealership breaks ground at 1400 W. North

Jack Carter Auto Group recently celebrated the groundbreaking of Carter Cadillac of Chicago, a new car dealership at 1400 W. North. Located at the corner of W. North Ave and N. Besly Ct, the vacant site was contemplated for an office development as part of Chicago developer Sterling Bay’s Lincoln Yards megadevelopment. Jack Carter Automotive Group teamed up with Cadillac and bought the parcel from developer Sterling Bay in December for $15.5 million, according to county records.

Designed by Linden Group Architects, the new dealership will have a two-story showroom and an attached six-story parking garage with 490 parking spaces for inventory and customer parking. 

Carter Cadillac of Chicago will be the city’s only Cadillac dealership and will serve as the brand’s Midwest flagship operation, matching other flagship dealerships in Manhattan and Los Angeles.

With the groundbreaking celebrated, general contractor Joseph Nicolas Construction will begin construction of the new dealership. While a full building permit is awaiting issuance, the dealership is expected to open in late 2027.
