A renovation permit has been issued for the adaptive reuse residential project at 616 W. Arlington. Planned by Validus Capital, the project site is located midblock between N. Orchard St and N. Geneva Terr. The existing building that will be converted has up until just recently been operated as The Getaway Hostel.
Designed by New York-based Lopergolo + Bartling Architects, the adaptive reuse will convert the hostel into 36 permanent apartments. According to the architect, the renovation will preserve the Georgian Revival-style details of the building that contribute to the historic fabric of the neighborhood. The rear courtyard and parking will be retained as part of the project.
With the interior demolition permit issued, and the renovation permit now issued, general contractor 3F Construction LLC can begin the new buildout of residential units inside the building. A timeline for construction has not been announced.
