The Chicago City Council has approved a proposed residential development at 3301 W. 55th. Planned by 3301 W 55th LLC, the project site is located at the southwest corner of W. 55th St and S. Spaulding Ave. The property is currently vacant.

Designed by von Weise Associates, the project will have two four-story residential units with no retail space. The two buildings will be separated by a gated courtyard space between them for residents. 11 parking spaces will be sited along the alley behind the buildings.

With a total of 32 units, each of the buildings will have 16 apartments with four units per floor. The unit mix will include 18 two-beds and 14 three-beds. 7 apartments will be set aside as affordable to meet ARO requirements.

With City Council approval secured, the site will be rezoned from C1-1 to B2-3. The developer can now move forward with permitting and construction. A timeline for the project has not been announced.
