As we close up Summer Construction Week, Urbanize has canvassed the city to check in on progress at some of the latest developments. Starting in Bridgeport at the Ramova Theater, spending a couple days in Fulton Market at One Six Six and Fulbrix, hopping over to the South Loop for The Reed, and heading into the Loop for Millie on Michigan, today we step down in scale and venture into the southern end of the West Loop to see the nearly completed condos at CA6.
Developed by Belgravia Group, the new building encompasses 72 new condominium units that are already completely sold out. As Belgravia began sales right before COVID, they reserved all five duplex penthouses in the three weeks before COVID hit. In response, they revised their plan and made all 12 penthouses into duplex configurations.
With a design for SGW Architecture and Design, the seven-story building is clad in brick with large windows providing natural light to the homeowners. Condos come in a mix of three- and four-bedroom configurations, ranging in size from 2,160 to 3,157 square feet.
Our tour started with a trip up the stairs to the first duplex penthouse at the south end of the building. Throughout the project, work is being completed first at the southern units and is progressing towards the north. The home we toured had kitchen cabinets installed and appliances in, with finishing touches underway. Flooring is in progress and painting is ongoing.
Across the building, units are oriented east to west, with the living space overlooking S. Racine Ave and the back of the home looking east. An east-facing balcony for each unit will give homeowners unencumbered views of The Loop and Fulton Market, with additional views framed to the south by nearby towers.
On the seventh floor, the penthouse units open up onto a private terrace that also faces east. During our tour, crews were actively pouring the concrete slab for the terraces and access was restricted.
After seeing concrete work, we headed down to the second-floor condos. At this point, the unit we toured was nearing completion with flooring almost done, bathrooms significantly underway, and the kitchen almost finished. Stepping out onto the second-floor rear terrace, the large roof deck will be split up to give each second floor home its own private outdoor space. Separated by frosted glass dividers, units also have access to balconies overlooking S. Racine Ave.
With work being led by Maris Construction, condominiums are at varying stages of completion across the building. As work wraps up, Belgravia Group expects to begin closings after Labor Day.
